I thought it would be fun to look through this year’s photos and choose my top ten favorites from 2019…until I realized that 10 is FAR too limiting. I spent an entire afternoon going through photos and reliving memories, as I looked at pictures from both my iPhone and DSLR. I ended up deciding to split them up into a few specific trips and moments. Each of the photos made the cut because of special memories they captured, feelings they evoked or the people who are in them. I hope you enjoy my trip through 2019!
Jamaica: Ben and I went to Jamaica in February for a week with dear friends that we have known forever. It was one of the most relaxing weeks ever. We rented an amazing AirBnb where we snorkeled right off the dock…the same dock we shared every meal, really great conversations and countless laughs together.
Rocky Mountain National Park: We made all sorts of fun memories here in 2019! While our older kids were on a missions trip to Mexico last summer, we decided to take our youngest camping for a week, on the west side of RMNP. It was such a special time alone with him. We went for hikes and canoeing and saw the most wildlife I think I’ve ever seen!
Then for my birthday, Ben booked a photography/star tour through RMNP with a local photographer that I had been following for awhile. We had the best night learning how to make amazing photos of stars and exploring the park with really fun people.
Lastly, in December, Ben and I decided to plan an early morning sunrise hike to Dream Lake. We over-prepared, got up at 3:30am to drive to the trailhead, got lost a little on the trail and then finally got to the lake in time for the sunrise/heavy snow.
I love that we live so close to the park and look forward to making more memories here in 2020.
Mexico: We took our kids on their first all-inclusive vacation to Mexico this summer. It was such a fun week! I’m pretty sure Owen developed a lifelong love for piña coladas (the virgin kind, of course.) We took this trip with friends too, and got to watch one of them get baptized right on the beach! It was such a beautiful thing to watch!
Odds & Ends: The rest of these are photos from other special occasions and fun moments throughout the year. From bullfrog catching to my niece’s wedding and Christmas, these are all the odds and ends of my favorites.
2019 was an incredible year and, while of course it had it’s difficult moments as well, I have so much to be grateful for! Thank you for following along and making it all the way to the bottom of this massive overshare. I’d love to hear which ones are your favorites. Or share your own favorite photo of the year in the comments below! Happy New Year!
