I can't wait to photograph you and your beautiful family! Below are a few tips to help you prep for your session.
- Dress mom first! Choose an outfit you love and feel awesome in and then pick everyone else's outfits based on that.
- Choose clothes that coordinate, not match. Think complementary colors and look up "family session color palette" on Pinterest, if you need some inspiration.
- Consider the location of your photos. You don't want to show up to a forest of yellow aspen leaves, wearing all yellow!
- Make sure clothes fit correctly and are comfortable. Your photos will reflect how comfortable everyone feels in what they're wearing!
- Skip crazy graphics and logos. These can distract from the photos and skipping them helps us create more timeless photos.
- Remember the shoes! Your shoes will be in some of the photos. Consider whether they coordinate with your outfits and make sure they are appropriate for the location.
- Choose a time where everyone can show up rested and with full bellies. I promise, everyone will have more fun if you do.
- Arrive 5-10 minutes early, so we can get started on time.
- Save bribery for after the session! You know your kids best. I'm not against doing what you need to do, to help them stay positive for the session...just please save the treats for after.
- Try to relax and have fun. Kids pick up on your anxiety and we all want this to be a great experience for everyone.
- Don't worry too much about whether everyone is "behaving". Some of my very favorite photos are when the kids are just being their authentic selves.
- Let the photographer direct everyone. That's what you're paying for!
